Pixie Sticks - Summer | Sketch
When I was 8 years old, I spent the summer examining roly polies in the grass with my friends. My best friend Molly often arrived with a surplus of Pixie Sticks - ranging in color [though rarely ranging in taste]. Inner child work is the common thread through the majority of my sketches. In an effort to explore childhood whimsy, I used vibrant summer hues with pastels. I wanted to experiment with shape - note the tiny mounds as a representation of pill bugs. i used intentionally loose lines to demonstrate motion and nod to our favorite game: Pick up Stix.
